MKDSS

The Michele Kay Distinguished Speaker Series
Sunday, 30 September 2012

This posting has been a long time coming. I find this to be very difficult.

Through the Headliner’s Foundation, Michele’s friends have organized and endowed a journalism speaker’s series. Elizabeth Christian leads a committee of about twenty of Michele’s friends. We plan to have one program in the fall and one program in the winter.

The inaugural event, announced in the previous blog featured a panel discussion. It was held in September 2011 and sold out in two weeks.

The second event featured Frank Bruni, a print journalist from the New York Times, having a conversation with Ken Herman. It also sold out.

This fall’s event will be held Tuesday evening, 16 October at the Headliner’s Club. It features a panel discussion followed by viewing of the second Presidential debate. Our panel features: Neal Spelce: MC; Patti Golda Hart: The Houston Chronicle; Ken Herman: Austin American Statesman: and Ross Ramsey: The Texas Tribune. Sales have been brisk, and we expect another sell-out.

Additional details concerning the program can be found at
http://headlinersfoundation.org/events/fact-and-fiction-predictions-about-the-upcoming-elections. Reservations can also be made on the same page.

Next year we will have Don Gonyea, NPR National Political Correspondent present a program on Thursday, 07 February. Details will be published on the Headliner’s web site in January.

I plan to publish a few more postings, then expect to shut down the blog. We expect the MKDSS to run for some time. If you would like to be on the event email list, please contact the Headliners Foundation web site.
